welcome to the continent of north america.. within this continent, which includes also the carribbean islands, and central america, it's not one (1) country, but a collection of different countries.. i have noticed, quite a bit actually, with our friends from across the pond (atlantic ocean), especially those that reside in great britain/united kingdom, yes even the republic of ireland, of their generalities with regards to the term: america.. heaven forbid, i would guess if you lumped all brits in with europe/europeans.
wrong.. my experience has been that, most brits consider anything over this way.....the other side of the atlantic as: america.
thus to other nationalities within north america: that means: the u.s.a.. to a north american: when you say "america" it means: the united states of america.

The following are similiar comments that I made on another post. I thought it deserved top billing, so here goes. Just how the org. can equate the lifestyle (time -wise) of the Israelites to the present (time-wise) style of JW's just doesn't jive. Think about it for a moment. Jah only exacted "one-tenth" from the ancient Israelites while the modern day org's is requiring 24/7 out of it's baptized followers! Why the chasm?
They have made the word of God invalid because of their tradition, it says, 'I want mercy, and not sacrifice...for the Lord of the sabbath is what the Son of man is." How can they demand 24/7 from their slaves when Jah didn't require such exorbitant amount of time from the Israelites? Mercy you say? What mercy?
How much 'quality' time is devoted to the wife and children within the org? I guess the GB considers quality time with the family is being in service and meetings, 24/7 at that! Yeah right! If you can enlighten me further on this subject, be my guest.

from the current (uk) edition of 'our kingdom ministry'.
take a close look at paragraph 4. am i the only one who can see the old pattern of the 1980's re-emerging?
i had thought that the watchtower had begun to take a more reasonable approach to the secular education of it's members children yet here they are again in 2004 willing to jeopardise the education these young people receive for the sake of indoctrination and control.. .
Along the lines of Shamus. Yes, I could see Jah getting upset about the sabbath, why? Because the rest of the week they have off and they are schooled by their parents. Did the Israelites children have to go out in service and prepare talks? Did they have weekly meetings to prepare for?
As to temple duties, who was responsible for that, children? No, the Levites were. What about this one-tenth deal anyways? I mean, the Israelites were required ONLY one-tenth of whatever it was to Jah, while the FDS requires 24/7 of your time! Is there something wrong with this picture? Talk about reasonableness, where is it? Is it no wonder there's emotional and brain damage within the ranks of the JW's? Take thses comments with a grain of salt, a ton if need be.
Correct me if I'm wrong, PLEASE.
my mother told me that her bookstudy overseer asked his group this question---"why do you think a mature brother in the truth would just suddenly leave and stop coming to meetings?
any ideas?
" the group gave different opinions and finally he gave what he thought could be the reasons.
Instead of them devoting attention to you, ask provoking questions that would center around them and their beliefs. If they begin to question anything, it's a start.

If their curious, send them a list of questions to think about to occupy their minds. Get them to think.

it's so sad sometimes to see people question anothers happiness.
there have been posts made about good things happening to our fellow posters here.
posters questioning good fortune and happiness.
Two 's up! To some, misery loves company! I've come to learn many moons ago to let such childish behavior roll down my back.
